“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals…Wouldn’t it be great to have a day for giving back?” reads the GivingTuesday.org website. #GivingTuesday, a relatively new holiday, has been named a day of social good and many are adopting it quickly.

“Giving Tuesday is a simple idea. Black Friday, Cyber Monday. What about Giving Tuesday, a day that’s great for the soul,” says Henry Timms of the 92nd Street Y. Designed so that anyone can take ownership of the holiday, individuals, businesses, and organizations have already come on board.

Check out this inspiring recap of 2012 #GivingTuesday:

“Technology and digital have the ability to solve global problems and really make the world a better place,” says Sharon Feder of Mashable.

Everyone can be a philanthropist with #GivingTuesday — over 2,000 organizations have already started raising awareness about charitable giving around the world.

“There is no such thing as too much when talking about good,” states Aaron Sherinian of the United Nations Foundation.
